Twenty-two configurators

Price up a job at the customer’s table instead of working it out back at the office. You go through the questions that decide the price, and out comes a quote with the lines set out separately.

What a configurator is

A set of questions that knows what decides the price for this particular job. On a dormer window it is the roof pitch, on wallpaper the pattern repeat, on a charge point the distance to the consumer unit. You fill in what you see on site, in the order in which you survey it.

What makes them different from a price list with sliders

On all 22, the price does not sit in the visible part but in what has to happen around it. Replacing a boiler is rarely unhooking one and hanging another. Plastering a wall is a wall that something has to come off first. That is why the prep work is its own line in the result everywhere and not buried in a rate per metre. What is not on the screen does not get surveyed.

What comes out

  • A quote with the lines set out separately, ready to send
  • On the veranda and the dormer window, a sketch with the dimensions on it
  • The survey kept, so a second visit is not a second survey
  • On solar panels and insulation, the grant shown separately so the customer sees both figures

The prices are yours

The amounts sit in your own environment and not in our code. You set your own labour rate, your own material prices and your own uplifts, and you do not wait for a release to do it.

What is coming

The configurator runs in your own environment now, with your salesperson at the table. The version that sits on your own website, where a homeowner asks for an indication themselves and it arrives as a lead, is in development.
